NATO and Indo-Pacific Partners to Collaborate on AI and Cybersecurity

NATO, together with Japan, South Korea, Australia, and New Zealand, plans to launch four new projects. These projects will focus on Ukraine, artificial intelligence, disinformation, and cybersecurity. The objective is to strengthen cooperation among democratic nations to address global threats.

Jake Sullivan, the U.S. national security adviser, announced these plans at the NATO Defense Industry Forum. He emphasized the interconnected nature of global security issues.

Kathleen Hicks, the U.S. Deputy Defense Secretary, observed a shift from a single, slow strategic competitor to rapid industrial expansion by multiple adversaries, led by China.

NATO members will commit to enhancing their defense industrial capacities, marking a first for the alliance.

Jens Stoltenberg, the NATO Secretary-General, highlighted the increase in defense spending among members. He stressed the importance of interoperability and spending more efficiently.

The alliance aims to deepen cooperation with its Indo-Pacific partners in defense industry developments, underscoring the evolving nature of global security challenges.
