China has successfully developed a 300MW variable-speed pumped storage unit, with its core component, the rotor, passing the runaway test. The Dongfang Electric Corporation has adopted innovative technologies to solve high-difficulty design and manufacturing challenges, ensuring the rotor's stability and reliability. This technology will be applied to the second phase of the Taian project in Shandong and the Langjiang Power Station in Zhaoqing, Guangdong, functioning similarly to a giant power bank, balancing grid loads and storing clean energy.
